Silver Processes

Silver Strike Solution

A Silver Strike solution is always recommended prior to silver deposition to promote excellent adhesion and prolong the life of the main plating solution.

Bright Silver ALTIX

Bright Silver ALTIX process produces light, bright, haze-free deposits.

Inclusion of an antimony brightener gives enhanced and controllable hardness over a wide range of deposit thicknesses.

The process is ideally suited to decorative, technical and heavy silver plating in both rack and barrel systems.

Best results are achieved when plating onto brass, copper or German silver.

Bright Silver Elfit 73 E

Elfit produces pure white haze free deposits over a wide thickness range.  The electrolyte has excellent bright throw and can be engineered to give good covering power. 

The Elfit deposit has a conductivity equal to pure silver and is widely used throughout the world for RFI transmission applications.

Additive consumption is low, making the solution easy and economical to operate.  Elfit is suitable for both rack and barrel installations.

ARGUNA CF

ARGUNA CF is a weakly alkaline silver bath for the deposition of semi bright coatings with very good soldering or bonding properties.

For use in continuous lines using flow or spray techniques. Can also be used for selective plating using jet or spot plating.

ARGUNA 4500

ARGUNA 4500 is a weakly alkaline silver bath for the deposition of bright coatings with very good soldering or bonding properties.

For use in continuous lines using flow or spray techniques. Can also be used for selective plating using jet or spot plating.

UMICORE Antitarnish 614

This process forms a thin, transparent  protective layer on the surface of silver to prevent tarnishing caused by hydrogen sulphide.

It is an easy to use immersion process which does not contain any components which are harmful to the environment.

UMICORE Antitarnish 616

A special nanopolymer, which absorbs on the silver surface and cross links to form a coating a few nono-metres thick.

The treated surface will be protected from tarnishing for a prolonged period but the colour and visual appearance of the silver plating is uninfluenced.

With the addition of the UMICORE Antitarnish 616 Make-up Salt PLUS the process can be applied electrolytically which maximises the protective layer.

UMICORE Sealing 691

A post treatment process which can be applied to a number of different precious metal surfaces to prevent tarnishing or discolouration.

The colour, brightness and solderability are unaffected and the friction coefficient is reduce and the sliding properties improved.

The treatment times can be reduced considerably by adding UMICORE Sealing 691 Basic Additive and applying electrolytically, this is particularly useful for reel to reel applications.

Antitarnish AG 110 and AG 110 S

An immersion post treatment process for preventing tarnishing of electroplated silver deposits while maintaining the solderability.

The process does not contain Cr (VI) and is resistant to temperatures up to 150°C.

Available as 54% or 80% silver

Pack sizes 1Kg and 5kg.

Silver Anodes 

Dogbone silver anodes are thickened at the high current density portions of the cross section and maintain a more consistent anode current density throughout the life of the anodes.

99.97% fine silver

Sheet anodes are available to special order.

Silver Stripping Process:

Silver Stripper ECU8

A non-cyanide electrolytic stripper specifically formulated to remove silver from copper and copper alloys.  This process produces minimal attack on the base metal, reducing the need for refinishing before plating.

Stripping rates of 6-10µm per minute can be expected dependant on applied voltage.
