Chemical Laboratory Technician

Schloetter Co Ltd is part of a well-established international group of companies focused on the supply and development of products and processes for the finishing industry.  The company now have an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to come and join the plating team.

Located in PERSHORE, Worcestershire, the company develops and manufactures specialist chemical and paint products for the finishing industry.  With many years of experience in supplying electroplating chemistry into a number of different markets.

The Role:

 Reporting to the Service Laboratory Manager, the main responsibilities include:

  • Wet and instrumental analysis of plating bath constituents

  • Practical testing of plating electrolytes

  • Physical and instrumental testing of plated components

  • Provide technical support to customers and sales team

  • Production of plated samples for customer evaluation

  • QA testing of raw materials and manufactured products

  • Calibration of laboratory equipment

The Person:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Ability to communicate with clients and members of staff

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Scrupulous attention to detail, well organised and a team player

  • Understanding of laboratory equipment

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Excellent IT skills

The role will develop over time so we are looking for a flexible and adaptable candidate who is keen to take on additional responsibility to help to move the company forward. Full training will be provided but the role would suit an individual who is self-motivated as they will plan their own workloads once all actions have been agreed and prioritised.

The technical support provided to customers will increase over time as experience and product knowledge is gained by the candidate.

Whilst not essential a qualification / degree in Chemistry or similar discipline and or experience in electroplating would be an advantage.

Paint Development Technician

 Schloetter Co Ltd is part of a well established international group of companies focussed on the supply and development of products and processes for the finishing industry.  The company now have an opportunity for a PAINT DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN to come and join their PAINT team.

Located in PERSHORE, Worcestershire, the company develops and manufactures specialist chemical and paint products for the finishing industry.  With many years of experience in providing organic coatings, with significant success in the glass industry the company wishes to further expand its technology, both in this and other markets.

The Role:

 Reporting to the Paint Technical Manager, the main responsibilities include:

  • Active participation in the development of new paints and coatings
  • Progressing projects, safely and efficiently
  • Evaluating raw materials and selecting chemistries for formulation
  • Testing of paints and coatings to relevant international and company standards
  • Production of regular reports on development activities and communicate results to other staff members
  • Discussion of problems and resolutions with customers and the sales team to provide technical support
  • Support internal QA and manufacturing staff with technical issues

The Person:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to communicate with clients and members of staff

  • Understanding of laboratory equipment
  • Ability to recognise colour differentials
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent IT skills
